Job description

Why Greencore?

Following the combination with Bakkavor in January 2026, we’re one of the UK’s leading creators of convenience food, driven by a simple purpose: to make everyday taste better.

As a vibrant and fast-moving business, we’re proud to employ over 28,000 talented colleagues across 36 manufacturing sites and 21 distribution depots in the UK and the US. Together, we bring delicious food to life. Our products cover every meal occasion from breakfast through to dinner and dessert, with lunch and snacking in between. In FY25, our shared passion helped us achieve combined revenues of approximately £4bn.

Here at Leeds, we make just over 40% of all UK frozen Yorkshire puddings, making us one of the UK’s largest suppliers to retailers including Asda, Morrisons and Tesco.

This role will be a site-based role at our factory in Leeds (LS10 2RJ)

What you’ll be doing

This is not a standard Operational Trainer role. It’s an opportunity to make a real impact on site capability, compliance and colleague development.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering operational and compliance training to ensure colleagues have the skills, knowledge and confidence to carry out their roles safely and effectively
  • Supporting new starters through structured training and buddying during their first 12 weeks, helping them succeed in role and beyond probation
  • Closing existing compliance and capability gaps by reviewing training records, skills matrices and competency assessments
  • Preparing the site for upcoming audits by embedding consistent training standards and ensuring evidence of competence is robust and up to date
  • Working with subject matter experts to maintain, update and deliver standard operating procedures and refresher training
  • Verifying that training is being applied correctly on the factory floor through observation, assessment and retraining where required
  • Maintaining accurate training records and skills matrices, identifying and narrowing capability gaps across teams
  • Supporting wider development initiatives, including early careers and identified talent, as site capability continues to mature

You’ll work with remote HR and L&D stakeholders, alongside a dotted-line senior trainer for guidance and support, while operating with a high degree of autonomy on site.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone to hit the ground running, and who can help move things forward quickly and credibly.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience delivering training in a food manufacturing or factory environment
  • A strong understanding of operational compliance, health & safety and audit expectations
  • A self-starting, highly organised approach, with the confidence to work independently on site
  • The ability to prioritise under pressure and make sensible decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and the judgement to navigate differing stakeholder views constructively
  • Hands-on experience coaching, buddying or training colleagues on the job
  • A practical, down-to-earth style that builds trust with colleagues at all levels

You’ll also need flexibility in your working approach. This is a five-day, on-site role and requires flexibility around working hours, including occasional work alongside night shifts, to ensure training reaches all colleagues.

What you’ll get in return

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract offering the opportunity to make a visible, meaningful difference on a critical site.

You’ll receive:

  • Competitive job-related benefits
  • Holiday entitlement
  • Pension contributions up to 8% matched
  • Life insurance up to 4x salary
  • Company share save scheme
  • Access to Greencore Qualifications and development pathways
  • An exclusive employee discount platform and wellbeing support

Throughout your time at Greencore, you’ll be supported with on-the-job development and the chance to leave a lasting impact on site capability and compliance.

If you’re looking for a role where you can roll up your sleeves, take ownership and help shape a stronger future, join us and grow with Greencore.

y to launch the second LCF cohort, support professional development conversations with the identified potential/talent; including collection and review of the professional development conversations with our weekly colleagues, and most importantly, closing of the compliance gaps.
