Exciting Secondment Opportunity – Interim Logistics Director (12 months)

 

We are looking for an experienced Greencore colleague to step into a role which will oversee a relentless 24/7 delivery operation, champion the development of the newly-formed Group Logistics team and deliver on the Logistics projects which form part of the MBE (Making Business Easier) Programme for a period of 12 months. 

 

For the right person, this is an opportunity to step up or to move across from another function to show the business what you can do.

 

You will also have the chance to be involved in the project to integrate with Bakkavor if the proposed deal to buy the business goes ahead.

 

Our direct-to-store (DTS) distribution network, comprising of 17 depots nationwide, enables us to make over 10,500 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce and that of third parties.  In addition to our large van fleet for store deliveries, the Logistics organisation supplies the network depots from our manufacturing sites and picking hubs and we are always looking for ways to become more effective and efficient.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

Continue to implement a logistics strategy that aligns with the business plan and strategic objectives of Greencore.  Specifically, this is likely to mean that you will :

*         Provide Leadership and Direction to the Logistics Team

*         Promote Compliance and Safety Across Logistics Operations

*         Negotiate and Manage Third-Party Contracts Effectively

*         Embed a Culture of Continuous Improvement

*         Assess Regional Asset Capability for Strategic Development

*         Build a Capable Operational Team

*         Enable the Delivery of Sustainability Targets

*         Champion Inclusion and Diversity Initiatives

*         Actively Manage Organisational Risk Related to Cybersecurity and Data

 

What we’re looking for

*         Degree calibre

*         Ideally demonstrable experience as a senior leader of a Logistics team in a FMCG environment including development and execution of logistics strategy

*         In-depth knowledge of logistics procedures and practices

*         Experience of leading multi-site teams

*         Experience of leading major projects and delivering change within a large function or medium sized organisation

*         Financial awareness and high level of understanding of profit and loss management

*         Proficient in Microsoft Office systems
