Job description

Why Greencore?

We’re one of the UK’s largest food manufacturers, employing over 14,000 colleagues across 16 manufacturing units and 17 distribution depots across the UK. We supply all the UK’s food retailers with everything from sandwiches, soups and sushi to cooking sauces, pickles and ready meals. In FY24, we generated revenues of £1.8bn.

Our mission is to make every day taste better.

Here at Northampton, we operate one of the most advanced food production facilities in Europe. It’s a campus-style site made up of five manufacturing units, with over 2,000 colleagues delivering high-quality, premium food products—all of which go straight onto the shelves of Marks & Spencer.

We’re looking for a tenacious and passionate HR Advisor to join our team supporting one of our busiest and most dynamic units. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves the challenge of employee relations and wants to make a real impact in a fast-paced, unionised environment.

Please note: This is a site-based role requiring you to be present on-site five days a week at our Northampton site (NN3 6RX). Flexibility to accommodate occasional night-shift meetings is essential due to operational requirements. Hybrid or remote working is not supported.

What you’ll be doing

As HR Advisor, you’ll deliver a proactive, professional and people-focused service that supports line managers and colleagues through the full range of employee relations activity.

Working closely with the site HR team and operational leaders, you’ll:

  • Support a wide range and high volume of employee relations issues
  • Provide timely, practical advice to line managers on everything from day-to-day people queries to complex casework
  • Help maintain positive union relationships, supporting formal meetings and contributing to wider ER strategy
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders—from operatives to senior managers—in a challenging and fast-moving environment
  • Lead and contribute to site-wide projects, such as absence trends, Employee Relations analysis, engagement initiatives and process improvements
  • Flex your working hours to suit our 24/7 site operation—whether that’s catching night shift meetings or adjusting to key business needs

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience in an employee relations-focused HR role, ideally in a fast-paced environment with a challenging, high volume case load
  • The confidence to influence and challenge stakeholders in a complex, unionised setting
  • A clear communicator with a calm, professional and solutions-focused approach
  • Passionate about doing things the right way and enabling managers to lead with confidence
  • Comfortable being on-site full-time, 5 days a week—this is a hands-on role with real presence required
  • CIPD part-qualified (or working toward it) is ideal but not essential

At Greencore we put our people at the core. We celebrate their differences and help everyone to be themselves at work. Together, we make every day taste better. We’re proud to be recognised in the Gender Equity Measure Top 100 for our commitment to gender equality.

What you’ll get in return

  • Competitive salary
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Pension up to 8% matched
  • Life insurance up to 4x salary
  • Company share save scheme
  • Greencore Qualifications
  • Exclusive Greencore employee discount platform
  • Access to a full Wellbeing Centre platform

Throughout your time at Greencore, you’ll be supported with hands-on training and development opportunities to further your career. There’s also a clear pathway to HR Business Partner roles for those looking to grow.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, people-focused environment and love the challenge of employee relations—this is your opportunity to make a real difference. Apply today.
