Job description

Why Greencore?

We’re one of the UK’s largest food manufacturers, employing over 14,000 colleagues across 16 manufacturing units and 17 distribution depots across the UK. We supply all the UK’s food retailers with everything from sandwiches, soups and sushi to cooking sauces, pickles and ready meals, and in FY24, we generated revenues of £1.8bn.

Our mission is to make every day taste better.

Our Warrington site is also known as the Italian centre of excellence. Recent expansion and investment make this site a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit! We produce high-quality Italian ready meals for both Tesco and Co-op.

Please note: This is a fixed-term maternity cover role for 13 months, working five days a week on site.

What you’ll be doing

As our HR Administrator, you’ll play a vital role in supporting day-to-day HR operations while also acting as the first point of contact for colleagues across the site. It’s a varied and people-facing role that goes beyond typical HR admin, offering exposure to a broad range of responsibilities, including:

  • Managing the HR inbox and responding to a wide variety of colleague queries
  • Supporting the weekly payroll process with data preparation and accuracy checks
  • Coordinating return-to-work documentation and supporting attendance reporting
  • Managing general administrative duties, such as raising purchase orders and maintaining stationery stock levels
  • Getting creative with event planning and internal communications, often using tools like Canva
  • Scheduling meetings, supporting engagement activities and helping the HR team stay organised
  • Acting as the first point-of-contact for HR: welcoming colleagues into the office and supporting with day-to-day queries

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with a proactive mindset and a calm, professional manner. You’ll thrive in a dynamic environment, be naturally organised and enjoy helping others. Ideally, you will bring:

  • Previous experience in an administrative role, ideally with some HR exposure
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with data
  • Great people skills – approachable, friendly, and confident dealing with walk-in queries
  • A flexible, can-do attitude with the ability to take ownership even when things fall outside your comfort zone
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, and ideally some experience using HR systems or platforms
  • An interest in HR and colleague experience, even if it’s not your long-term career path

At Greencore we put our people at the core. We celebrate their differences and help everyone to be themselves at work. Together we make every day taste better.

What you’ll get in return

  • Competitive salary and job-related benefits
  • Holidays
  • Pension up to 8% matched
  • Life insurance up to 4x salary
  • Company share save scheme
  • Greencore Qualifications
  • Exclusive Greencore employee discount platform
  • Access to a full Wellbeing Centre platform

Throughout your time at Greencore, you will be supported with on-the-job training and development opportunities to further your career.
