Role Purpose

To lead and develop a packaging purchasing team, providing clear direction and appropriate support to ensure delivery against purchasing and business targets and strategies

 

Key Accountabilities

  • To develop and maintain high performing, motivated and engaged teams through one to one coaching, providing direction, leadership and creating bespoke development plans to maximise team members’ potential both as individuals and as a team
  • Ownership of all purchasing activity within the material areas, ensuring that total spend is managed effectively and efficiently, with rigorous attention to detail on financial tracking and forecasting (including elements of credit and counterparty risk)
  • Support of the creation and implementation of product category sourcing plans across the group, ensuring overall alignment to business and purchasing strategies, including Greencore’s sustainability strategy
  • Stakeholder engagement with Commercial teams including support of inflation recovery, ensuring governance and confidentiality
  • Stakeholder engagement with Operational teams (including Technical and Sustainability) to ensure correct Quality and inbound Service Levels are achieved
  • Monitor team adherence to systems and processes to ensure accuracy, and legal, contractual compliance
  • Support the achievement of our sustainability plan through leading with a sustainability mindset
  • Support the achievement of our inclusion and diversity aspirations through role modelling and personally leading and hiring inclusively, embracing and encouraging diversity
  • Implement and ensure compliance with our data management and governance policies, procedures and/or guidance governance approaches so that associated risks are mitigated and managed
  • Actively sponsor and commit the necessary resource and focus required to deliver our inclusion and diversity commitments, goals and targets and be a role model for inclusive leadership behaviours
  • Actively sponsor and commit the necessary resource and focus required to support delivery of our sustainability commitments, goals and targets
  • Actively manage organisational risk related to both Cyber Security and data, by committing the necessary focus, resource and investing in the skills and experience required to ensure compliance to relevant policies and legislation, along with taking ownership for personal and commercial data processed throughout the group

What we’re looking for

  • Degree calibre with good breadth and depth of purchasing and negotiation experience 
  • Experience of influencing across all stakeholder groups, and of senior leadership decision making 
  • Experience of successfully leading teams, with a proven track record of building internal capability, coaching and facilitating skills development 
  • Project management capability and experience of successfully delivering results in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to build relationship and deliver results through others
