We’re a vibrant, fast-paced leading food manufacturer. Employing around 13,600 colleagues across 16 manufacturing units and 17 distribution depots across the UK. We supply all the UK’s food retailers with everything from Sandwiches, soups and sushi to cooking sauces, pickles and ready meals, and in FY23, we generated revenues of £1.9bn.

Our vast direct-to-store (DTS) distribution network, comprising of 17 depots nationwide, enables us to make over 10,400 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce and that of third parties.

Role Purpose

To deliver a portfolio of new and/or improved products which meet key performance indicator targets and are aligned to the Greencore food strategy, through leadership of the product development team

Key Accountabilities

• Collaborate with the Head of Food and Packaging Innovation to set the over-arching strategy for the product portfolio and be the champion of that strategy and Greencore’s food credentials in all business processes and forums
• Work collaboratively with the Insights and Innovation team to develop our customers product strategy for the relevant portfolio of products, creating tailor product solutions for their specific consumers’ requirements
• Provide clear direction, support and expertise to the product development teams to deliver the portfolio range of products which will achieve category and customer goals and key performance indicators
• Provide food expertise to Operations and Technical relationships and work collaboratively to successfully develop and launch new portfolio products
• Ensure that the product development team has the right capacity and capability for the workload by setting and monitoring resource levels and by ensuring that development plans and succession planning exercises are completed annually
• Provide subject matter expertise to the Head of Portfolio to ensure that the Greencore Food Strategy is implemented through the product range
• Support the achievement of our sustainability plan through leading with a sustainability mindset
• Support the achievement of our inclusion and diversity aspirations through role modelling and personally leading and hiring inclusively, embracing and encouraging diversity
• Implement and ensure compliance with our data management and governance policies, procedures and/or guidance governance approaches so that associated risks are mitigated and managed

What We’re looking for

• Graduate calibre, specifically consumer science degree or equivalent knowledge gained in the workplace
• Proven track record of having delivered high quality, sustainable commercial products
• Demonstrated an ability to structure work and focus a team to deliver against an agreed vision
• Shows passion and commitment to coaching and developing team members
• Uses broad consumer, customer and food knowledge to create customer strategy
