Job description
Shift - Monday to Friday 06:00 - 14:00/14:00 - 22:00 (Rotating weekly)
Rate of pay - £12.49 per hour
Here in Consett, we have a team of around 280 colleagues. We produce a range of chilled ready meals for some of the UK's leading retailers, including Co-op, Sainsbury's and Weight Watchers.
What you'll be doing
Gathering and opening requested raw materials to the relevant departments in accordance with the days production plan, moving large quantities of heavy raw materials, with the aid of lifting equipment, moving between dry goods, chilled stores and freezer recording actual amounts of materials issued and labelling traceability, removing of any waste and used packaging as you go.
* Ensuring that raw material packaging has been opened correctly, then issued to the relevant department when requested, being vigilant on any foreign body and cross contamination risk and each ingredient is to expected standard.
* Record actual amounts of ingredients issued on the appropriate documentation, ensuring that it is accurate and up to date, paying attention to traceability procedures, and raising any concerns with the Senior Operative and/or Technical.
* Gathering and organising required materials onto the relevant Pallets, moving large quantities of heavy materials, with the aid of lifting equipment, segregating allergens and non-allergens to prevent cross contamination, ensuring that all packaging is intact and pallets are clean and free from debris.
* Paying attention to expiry dates and work to stock rotation, ensuring the right materials are being given as requested and within date and is in good quality standard, making sure that each material is labelled with the relevant information Product name, code and use by etc.
* Ensure that bins are emptied regularly and empty cardboard boxes are taken to the relevant area to be disposed of, always keeping wastage and disposals to a minimum in order to maximise production and the use of each ingredient and to minimise disposal costs
* Make sure all returned materials are stored, secured and labelled correctly with relevant information on an open product label, listing product name, Use by and code etc.. and is free of contamination and in accordance with procedures, informing the senior operative of any returns or issues with material.
* Wear the correct PPE when required, ensuring any tools such as Safety Knifes are kept clean and in good condition throughout the shift, maintaining, and using RPP masks when working within the spice decanting area, ensuring it is in good condition, changing filters regularly or when required and reporting any issues with Senior Operative.
* Conform to all current food hygiene requirements and Health and Safety legislation, Maintaining the highest quality standards, follow good housekeeping and ensure all areas are always kept clean and tidy, be able to adjust to schedule changes on short notice, supporting business requirements when needed.
What we're looking for
Full training will be provided if successful in this role but are looking for the following knowledge and experience:
* Experience working within a food manufacturer preferred
* Attention to detail
* Good time management
* Excellent Literacy and Numeracy skills are required due to completion of traceability records
* Problem solving skills
* Good communicator and ability to work in a team
* Allergen awareness
* L2 Food Safety is preferred but not essential
